We have a solid expertise in design and application of
analytic and statistical methods ranging from drug development to the use of
drugs in society.. Included are
meta-analysis, decision analysis, statistical analysis as well as
pharmacoepidemiologic analysis. We
offer services for developing statistical analysis plans, as well as applying
the outlined analyses.
Our analysts are well based in
mathematics and statistics. We have the
background, ability, and experience to manage and analyze data of all types,
from the very basic to the very sophisticated.
We are able to provide analyses and output based on software packages as
well as spreadsheet models.
Statistical modeling is
often needed to measure patients’ adeherence to a treatment or to assess the
impact of an intervention in prescription patterns. A recent example include the
following publication:
Desjardins O, Manley J,
Nanwa N, Goh YI, Smith R, Einarson TR. Trends in
prescription claims following the withdrawal of rofecoxib from the Canadian
market. J Clin Pharmacol
Pharmacoepidemiol 2008 (In press).
Iskedjian M, Walker J, Gray T, Vicente C, EThe engine for
most pharmacoeconomic analyses is the decision tree. Inputs are normally taken from the
literature and costs from standard price lists.
We have extensive experience in designing such models and analyzing a
wide variety of data. Typical
examples include:
Iskedjian M, Walker J, Gray T, Vicente C, E inarson TR, Gershan A. Economic analysis of Avonex®
(interferon beta-1a) in patients following a single demyelinating event. Multiple Sclerosis
2005; 11: 542-551.
Iskedjian M, Barkovsky L, Desjardins O, Walker JH, Dorkalam
M, Shear N, Einarson TR. Cost-utility analysis of Amevive (alefacept) in the
treatment of patients with moderate to severe psoriasis.
Value in Health Our economic models
very often employ probabilistic analyses, especially for sensitivity analyses
around pharmacoeconomic results.
We can apply such methods as Monte Carloanalyses,
bootstrapping, or jackknife methods to data.
Examples of pharmacoeconomic analyses using Monte
Carlosimulations include:
Iskedjian M, Barkovsky L, Desjardins O, Walker JH, Dorkalam M, Shear N, Einarson
TR. Cost-utility analysis of Amevive (alefacept) in the treatment of patients
with moderate to severe psoriasis. Value
in Health 2005; 8 (3): 331.
Meta-analyses techniques are often required to aggregate the
results of various similar studies in order to obtain meta-analytic rates for
modelling or data-synthesis purposes.
We have a comprehensive experience in using meta-analytic techniques for
such purposes. A recent example of
the use of meta-analysis includes the following publication:
Iskedjian M, Bereza B, Gordon A, Piwko C, Einarson TR.
Meta-Analysis of Cannabis Based Treatments for Neuropathic and Multiple
Sclerosis Related Pain. Current Medical
Research and Opinion 2007; 23 (1):17-24.
We have considerable experience in designing and performing
studies locally, internationally and globally. From the multinational studies we
have developed an extensive network of researchers and clinicians who can
facilitate studies virtually anywhere in the world. We also have facility in a
number of languages and collaborate with professionals (KOLs, academics etc.)
with further in-depth abilities.
Such relationships gives us the capability to provide cultural and linguistic
adaptations for data collection sheets, manuscripts, case report forms,
monographs, questionnaires, or other types of survey.
-
Adaptation of all research designs to countries, provinces,
regions and specific healthcare environments (e.g., HMOs, hospitals, managed
care)
We have consulted or performed studies in the following
geographic areas: North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe,
Middle East, Southeast Asia,
Australia and
South Africa .
We have participated in some of the largest multinational
studies. We have done research in
most of the European countries (Euro 5 countries and others), North America (Canada,
USA ), several Latin American countries (Mexico,
Brazil , and
Colombia), South East Asia, the Middle East and Australia. We can
conduct studies in other countries, or adapt findings to or from virtually any
country.
We can translate from English to a variety of languages, and
vice versa, documents ranging from data collection forms to study reports.
We offer services for valuation of drugs and devices
developed by pharmaceutical firms, including biotech startups, or device
manufacturers, as well as identification and estimation of niche markets for
entire therapeutic areas. We also
prepare scientific materials for shareholder resources.
We apply scientifically validated approaches, using our
expertise in pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology and modeling, for
determining the fair market price of products and estimating their financial
value, as well as for product market analysis.
The commercial potential can be evaluated for either a single
product or an entire pipeline.
Often, major markets are saturated with products and options. We can assist in finding new niche
markets where a product can exploit an orphan indication or meet an unmet need. We evaluate possibilities for
those companies to enter the new markets either directly or through
collaborative marketing alliances with existing North American companies.
