Full Bio (pdf)

Dr. Wilding joined the faculty as Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Biostatistics at the State University of New York at Buffalo in August of 2002.  His position was later changed to Assistant Professor and he completed his Ph.D. training in Statistics at the University of Rochester in 2003.  In the same year, Dr. Wilding was appointed to the faculty of the newly founded Department of Biostatistics, housed within the School of Public Health and Health Professions.  He also has official ties to the School of Nursing.

His responsibilities at the University at Buffalo have included serving as the Director of the Statistical Consulting Laboratory in which he provided statistical support to research projects across a variety of disciplines.  He also serves as a Co-Investigator/Collaborator for several university-based grants at the University at Buffalo and other academic institutions.  As a Senior Member of the Graduate Faculty, Dr. Wilding teaches several undergraduate and graduate level courses in Biostatistics, and serves as a mentor/advisor to several graduate students in the Department of Biostatistics.   The University has awarded him in the past for his ability to convey statistical concepts to the student body.  He has also taken part in a number of University related activities including serving as a member on a number of faculty search committees, graduate student committees, and serving as a faculty senator.

Dr. Wilding began his service to Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in 2004 as an Associate Biostatistics consultant in the Department of Biostatistics where his work involved the design and analysis of clinical trials, and the writing of manuscripts and abstracts.  In August 2005, he was appointed Assistant Chair of the Department of Biostatistics at RPCI.  His duties include administration of biostatistical support for cancer clinical trials and epidemiological studies, and the management of the day-to-day operations of the master's level statistical staff which includes two pre-doctoral Research Affiliates and two Senior Biostatisticians.  Much of his work with the master's level staff involves guidance on the implementation of statistical analysis plans and the presentation of statistical findings to groups of clinical investigators.

Within the same year he was appointed to Assistant Chair, he was appointed as the sole Statistician on the RPCI Data Safety Monitoring Board which is responsible for the annual evaluation of all RPCI investigator initiated clinical trials.  Dr. Wilding evaluates the statistical merit of RPCI investigator initiated, national cooperative group, and pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trials through his role as member of the Internal Review Board and Scientific Review Committees, both of which meet on a monthly basis.  He serves a similar role as a member of the Alliance Foundation Scientific Advisory Committee.  A non-statistical role is served as a member of the RPCI Information Technology Advisory Board.  Dr. Wilding is a Cancer Center Support Grant member and holds the additional title of Assistant Professor of Oncology.  He is often a guest lecturer where he speaks to medical fellows and faculty on the role of Biostatistics in clinical research.  Currently, Dr. Wilding serves as Co-Investigator/Biostatistician on a number of RPCI based grants.

Dr. Wilding’s past collaborative research includes, but is not limited to, Oncology, Urology, Orthopedics, Otology, Endocrinology, Periodontology, Gastroenterology, Clinical Chemistry, Cardiology, Neurosurgery,  Pharmacology, Pathology, Infection and Immunity, Speech, Learning, and Hearing, Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Neurotoxicology, Pediatric Physical Therapy, and other areas of Pediatric research.  His methodological research also spans a number of areas and his interests include computationally intensive methods, goodness-of-fit tests, and tests of independence.  Dr. Wilding has over 45 papers published in peer-reviewed clinical and statistical journals, and has presented his work at a number of conferences.  He is skilled in a vast array of statistical analysis techniques and computer programming languages.  He is a reviewer for several statistical and clinical journals.  Dr. Wilding is a member of the American Statistical Association and the Eastern North American Region of the International Biometric Society.

Client Testimonial

"Our company worked with Amy Hayward and her team on a Phase III global clinical trial. The particular study I am referring to had multiple end points requiring a tight turn around with several hospital based sites throughout the US and internationally.

I found them to be extremely organized, efficient and professional. The team, under Amy’s supervision did great work for us on this study and I was very pleased with the results.

We were able to achieve high obtainable rates in terms of data collection and management on our randomized patients as well as adhere successfully to the time frames and deadlines outlined in the protocol.

They were reliable in terms of communication and feedback, and were diligent about meeting all of their obligations under the contract.

I would recommend them based on the successful completion of all deliverables we expected of them in terms of this project."
